Yes. Our gel is crystal clear, which allows you to see the complete wound profile on every shot. Entry point, wound channel, expansion, and penetration depth are all visible without cutting the block.

Yes. The gel remains crystal clear through the first six remelts. After the sixth remelt it will begin to take on a yellow tint that gradually darkens with each subsequent remelt. This is an aesthetic change only. The gel remains within FBI and NATO calibration standards even after the color changes.

Our 10% gel is calibrated to FBI BB Calibration Specs. Calibration is verified by firing a standard .177 caliber (4.5mm) steel BB at 590 feet per second from 10 feet away. The BB must penetrate between 8.5 centimeters (plus or minus 1 cm). Every batch is tested before it ships and every order includes a calibration card confirming your batch meets this standard.

Our 20% gel is calibrated to NATO BB Calibration Specs for calibrated ordnance gelatin. Calibration is verified by firing a standard .177 caliber (4.5mm) steel BB at 590 feet per second from 10 feet away. The BB must come to rest between 3.17 cm and 4.45 cm. Every batch is tested before it ships and every order includes a calibration card confirming your batch meets this standard.

Different testing protocols exist for different applications. The NATO BB Calibration Specs uses a denser gel formulation calibrated for rifle and high-velocity ammunition testing. If you are testing rifle rounds or need to meet NATO standards, choose our 20% gel.

No. Our gel does not contain water. Any inserts placed in the gel must also be free of water.

Remelt. Reform. Reuse. Up to 10 times when the remelting procedure is followed. Complete instructions are included with every order.

Up to 10 times when you follow the remelting procedure. After the 10th remelt the gel may develop a color change but will remain within calibration.

The gel begins surface melting at approximately 105 degrees Fahrenheit (45.5 C). Normal melting temperatures range from 200 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Never exceed 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot gel will cause burns. Never touch hot gel until completely cooled. Always follow the safety instructions included with your order.

No. Our gel does not require refrigeration. Store it anywhere the temperature stays below 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
